Has anyone noted where Andythiing started the thread?

It has now been bolted onto another obscure thread to stop Stereonet users from finding it.

Just for reference if you cannot find it on Stereonet forum here is the link

https://www.stereonet.com/forums/topic/579155-sydney-hifi-show-2023/

It wasn't deleted but just moved to some obscure location on his forum so nobody could find it easily and there was only one post with a link to the official show website but it still doesn't work ;)

Come on guys wake up will you !! Hifi community - sure it is :D LOL

Quote from: MichaelH on February 06, 2023, 01:22:00 PMRushton has bought a RADAR to detect members who don't comply with his rules. It's all about shutting down the Willsenton thread that has over 300 pages as its detracting from his paying sponsors. This must be killing him that this amplifier has gained the audience it has, ALL FOR FREE. I hope people keep it up.

Stereonet should be renamed "Willsenton Audio". The brand doesn't even appear in the brands list but doesn't have too. They got 300 or more pages of free plugs and advertising which is unprecedented for a forum that heavily polices self promotion of any local brand. :(

Ironically there is a review of the Audio Research i/50 integrated valve amp on the same forum which is pretty much a similar product to the Willsenton Audio except it sells for $10k vs $1500 for the Willsenton Audio. For the price Audio Research are charging for the phono preamp option alone you can have one Willsenton Audio integrated amp ! Go figure.

Once the chinese start making these products it then becomes a race to the bottom which is why I am hesitant to get involved at this level anymore and focusing my efforts elsewhere. I have seen it happen with DAC's, preamps, amps, DSP etc

It's too bad that he killed off the local industry by pitting one vendor against another and watching them fall like dominoes. They all but died under his watch and he thought he was on the gravy train with his advertising bureau plugging selected imported brands and now the chinaman is stealing away market share of those brands by stealth and right under his nose too. It's a case of what goes around comes around ;)

cheers
david

I must have predicted this. Audio Research now in receivership. Once the chinese got involved in valve amps it then became a race to the bottom. $9000 ARC integrated amp vs $1500 Willsenton Audio integrated amp. It didn't take a rocket scientist to predict who was going to win this race ??

QuoteIt would appear that in the past week in the State of Minnesota District Court, County of Hennepin Fourth Judicial District, the Audio Research Company has assigned its debts and assets (sic) to the Lightwave Management Group in Minnesota. They specialize in turnaround/bankruptcy and financial crisis management.

Interesting that these papers were filed just about a week after AXPONA 2023 was over.

https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/whither-audio-research.36751/

QuoteI reviewed the Assignment filed on April 4 in state court. Audio Research voluntarily agreed to assign all of its assets to a receiver, Lighthouse Management Group, Inc. Lighthouse Management is in the business of working with troubled businesses and regularly acts as a receiver. This process is an alternative to a bankruptcy filing in federal bankruptcy court; however, any three creditors can seek to place Audio Research into an involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy in federal bankruptcy court. This might occur if three creditors do not trust the process or the company's strategy in state court. Schedule B attached to the Assignment is 31-page, single-spaced list of creditors which includes many familiar names in the audio industry. The job of the receiver is to liquidate the assigned assets, collect all proceeds, pursue any claims, pay and discharge all expenses of the liquidation, and then pay and discharge (to the extent of available funds) all debts and liabilities of Audio Research. Sufficient funds may or may not be available depending on the sale proceeds and the amount of the debt. Unlike a bankruptcy filing, there is no statement of the amount of the debt in the state court filing.

The receiver has complete control and power of attorney over the assets of Audio Research. It is likely that, to maximize proceeds, the receiver will seek to sell the entirety of the assets and business (including goodwill) as a going concern; if that effort is successful, the business may continue under the ownership of the buyer. It is also possible that Audio Research already has a transaction agreed upon in place for the sale of its assets and business (including goodwill) as a going concern to a “white knight and the filing with state court is intended to facilitate that transaction without an involuntary bankruptcy filing. I expect that Audio Research has already been (or soon will be) communicating with creditors. The argument will be that the “white knight buyer will only contribute funds if Audio Research is not forced into bankruptcy and a bankruptcy will yield far less value for creditors.

Well it makes a total mockery of him asking the punters to remove their URL from their signature. I can go onto diyaudio, ASR, WBF etc and put a URL in my signature anytime and nobody barks up about it except for the poodle here :(

Unless objective measurements are made with proper test equipment all of these reviews will be nothing more than a white wash using lots of flowery language and cliches that will never show up any flaws in any equipment they review and I bet you won't find one negative review that stereonet has ever done simply because they only ever review sponsors equipment. They don't randomly take gear off the street like ASR does and then review it with no strings attached so it's a bit like the pot calling the kettle black when they start criticizing other reviewers for doing exactly the same thing they do. In other words those types of reviews are nothing more than glorified adverts.

Willsenten Audio Record.png

Willsenton Audio The gift that keeps on giving back to itself courtesy of stereonet !

Congratulations to Willsenton audio for reaching 400 pages of free forum advertising and over 10,000 replies to date, all courtesy of stereonet. That should have added significantly to their bottom line and nothing to stereonets for all of the sales of their tube amps. Even though Willsenton Audio is not a sponsor of stereonet and doesn't even feature in their brands listings we believe that Willsenton Audio should be awarded with a stereonet Applause Award for their outstanding contribution to the Chinese economy and reaching the 400 page milestone without contributing or spending a single cent in Australia with stereonet !!

We'd hate to think how many Chinese made amps have been sold and sales lost from the local sponsors because of this thread. Maybe one or two for each page of the thread at the very least :(
We would like to offer Willsenton Audio an unofficial stereonet Applause Award for all of their efforts and sponsorship to the stereonet “community to date which just happens to be zilch !

Too bad if you are a local tube amp manufacturer and I know there are still some left here in Oz but don't be dissuaded by this apparent double standard. It's what stereonet are good at doing. Destroying what's left of the industry in this country and stacking the scales in favour of yet more imports. And make sure you remove your website URL from your signature because we wouldn't want you to have an unfair advantage over the paying sponsors would we. On behalf of all of the local aussie hifi manufacturers left thanks again stereonet for nothing ;)

And btw if anyone is going to the Sydney Hifi show please signup with the ozhifi forum and post any pictures you have there because I doubt if you will get a chance to post it on his forum the way it is being censored :(

QuoteI don't think that is true because it would be a breach of privacy and against the law so I doubt if any forum software allows this however it seems it might be possible with a plugin for the forum software used by stereonet and some other forum software:-

And your point here is?

It's up to the admin whether or not they want to read other peoples PM's by adding a suitable plugin.  ;)

Looks like he sold that Radar a tad too soon. He better buy it back and put a dual listing detector in it.  ;D

Better yet he can get his mods to scour the internet to look for dual listings and then bait the person selling.

And he can read the PM's I asked the software maker if it was possible and IT IS.

He seems to have close ties with that particular forum software provider. For that reason it's a package that I would not want to use :(

It's just a segway to ask for money by pretending to have a discussion about it. You can bet it's a sure certainty that he is going to put the bite onto the punters. ;)

And how does he know that people haven't sold their goods on another platform ?? Can he read other peoples PM's ??

cheers
