Making Waves - Prince The Prince embodies many Duntech firsts... | |
| |
The Prince features a five driver layout, symmetrically arranged on a vertical axis and time aligned. The bass drivers are formed from a cast and hand coated Kevlar cone material. The voice coil is a long throw design producing the lowest levels of distortion and compression. The midrange drivers are also based on a hand coated Kevlar cone which perfectly matches the bass drivers. The dust cap on this driver incorporates a specially matched diaphragm to ensure smooth high frequency performance for above the crossover point. A symmetrically lathed and vented pole piece is used for both drivers. The basket material is magnesium. The tweeter is based on a diaphragm with a special profile to optimise the high frequency response. A cone shaped pole piece is used to minimise cavity resonances and an additional rear chamber further improves the damping of the tweeter. In front of the tweeter Duntech has mounted a unique acoustic resonance filter to provide unprecedented clarity at high frequencies. At the rear of the speaker a specially controlled tweeter provides reverberant energy in the room to exactly mimic the sound field in a real concert hall. The lower woofer is loaded by a transmission line to provide extremely low frequency output in the listening room. The front of the enclosure is treated with die cut felt of precise properties to suppress the box diffraction effects. The cabinet is made of 25mm thick MDF with extensive bracing throughout. Each driver is accorded its own enclosure. The crossover is a first for Duntech, employing a non-ferrous substrate. The inductors are wound from seven separate strands of wire laid in a computer driven orthocyclic winding. The capacitors are actually constructed from multiple capacitors in each package to provide very fast rise times and low loss factors. The speaker is provided with six sets of terminals for tri- wiring, bi-wiring or normal operation. The Prince is available in a choice of Queensland Walnut, Rosewood or Piano Black. |

The Marquis also has a time aligned, five driver arrangement. The bass and mid-range drivers have diecast magnesium chassis. The bass drivers use a vented magnet system and feature a special, coated, pulp paper cone. The mid-range drivers are double magnet design and have rubber suspension for low resonance. The double chamber tweeter is dome type, with a fabric diaphragm and ferrofluid for efficient cooling and damping. The cabinet is designed to provide optimum rigidity and its size has been matched to the performance requirements of the drivers. All drivers have separate sealed enclosures. Acoustic felt is matched to the requirements of the loudspeaker and tailored to the geometry of the enclosure. The loudspeaker grill is covered with acoustically transparent cloth and the cabinet is hand finished in high quality wood veneers. |

The Duntech Ambassador XL combines elegant layout with the astonishing life-like sound for which Duntech loudspeakers are world renowned. Created entirely at our Australian facility, it brings to the respected Classic Series a mid-priced loudspeaker with all of the quality, precision and performance characteristics synonymous with the Duntech name. The Ambassador XL produces an extended, superbly balanced response with a bass emphasis which is suited to both Audio Visual and pure music applications. Hand crafted from the finest Australian or Imported timbers, the stylish design will complement many decors. The Ambassador XL is the Ambassador to the Classic Series and is truly deserving of the title Classic. |
A three way four driver design, the Ambassador XL is a remarkable loudspeaker. The drivers are of a high quality fibre construction utilising high temperature aluminium voice coils and magnesium chassis. The tweeter is a fabric dome made from a proprietary material called Sonotex. Its voice coil is wound with pure silver wire. Treated with acoustic absorbent felt, the tweeter is time collimated. The Ambassador XL incorporates a proprietary 210mm (8") woofer mounted in the side of the cabinet. This driver provides the flexibility and bass performance which is often called for in A/V applications. Providing extension below 30Hz in typical rooms, the Ambassador XL is the ideal entry level loudspeaker for the more serious audio and A/V enthusiast. The crossover is a first order type which provides smooth and flat phase and amplitude response. Equipped with gold plated precision terminals and wired throughout with heavy gauge low loss silver plated cable, it is suited for bi-wiring or passive bi-amplification. |
