Jade / Model Information
October 29, 2023, 03:30:57 PM
Duntech Jade

Jade Wallspeakers - At Duntech we listen to our clients and due to increasing demand we have introduced the Jade wallspeakers to replace the legendary PCL3 (circa 1988) only the Jade speakers outperform the original by far. The Jade has better bass extension (55Hz-20KHz) and much higher sensitivity than the original. The two way two driver ported enclosure with 160mm magnetically shielded drivers make the Jade ideally suited to home theatre applications as wall mounted rear channels, where floorstanding monitors may not be practical. The Jade speakers offer a convenient high quality stereo system and would be ideally suited if matched with the Emerald/Sapphire models as front channels.

Pearl Monitors - The Pearl monitors produce a big sound on a scale that is quite exceptional for a small speaker, and are suited as front stand alone two way studio monitors or as rear channels to compliment a home cinema environment. The Pearls deliver a transient response similar to the Black Pearls and can truly be described as high quality professional monitors. The front baffle houses a 160mm bass/midrange driver with an impressive 75mm voice coil, the 94mm tweeter further enhances the two way two driver first order crossover which is constructed in the true Duntech fashion. The rear of the cabinet is vented for smoother more extended bass. The standard cabinet finish is in hand rubbed Australian Jarrah or Queensland Walnut.

Regent/Black Knight / Model Information
October 29, 2023, 03:19:32 PM
Duntech Regent/Black Knight

The Regent uses a five driver system which is symmetrically arranged on a vertical axis to ensure time alignment.
The woofers have a magnesium, diecast chassis. A vented, long throw magnet system reduces air movement noise. These low distortion drivers employ hexacoil technology for very high power handling.

The mid-range drivers have a large voice coil diameter on an aluminium former, with a wide dispersion pattern and excellent phase characteristics.

The tweeter is positioned 950mm (37") from the base of the cabinet, about ear level when a listener is seated. The use of ferrofluid dissipates heat very efficiently and dampens driver resonance. Soft rolloff suspension prevents phase anomalies in the upper frequency range.

The cabinet size is optimum for this combination of drivers and has the ability to reproduce very low frequencies at realistic sound pressure levels.

An infinite baffle system is used, in preference to a vented enclosure which very often produces a woolly or ill-defined sound.

The mid-range drivers are mounted in their own sealed enclosure to prevent interaction with the woofers. The tweeter is a sealed unit.

Foam is placed in the cabinet to reduce panel vibration and permit optimum performance of the drivers. The density, shape and position of the foam is matched to the specific requirements of the drivers.

The first order type crossover employs hard wire point to point construction with aircore inductors. Polypropylene capacitors are used for their stability, high voltage, low loss and low inductance. Resistors are high powered ceramic type.

The input terminals are gold plated for reliable connection and to eliminate corrosion.

The system accommodates bi-wiring and passive bi-amplification.

The loudspeakers are covered with acoustically transparent black cloth which has minimal effect on sound reproduction.

The Duntech Statesman combines elegant layout with the astonishing life-like sound for which Duntech loudspeakers are world renowned. Created entirely at our Australian facility, it brings to the respected Classic Series a mid-priced loudspeaker with all of the quality, precision and performance characteristics synonymous with the Duntech name. The Statesman produces an extended, superbly balanced response with extremely tight and tuneful bass, a very fast and resolving midrange and clear extended treble with

sound staging and imaging which is as close to "being there" as any loudspeaker system could wish to achieve. Hand crafted from the finest Australian or Imported timbers, the stylish design will complement many decors. The Statesman is an extremely revealing and refined loudspeaker which pushes the barrier for high quality sound reproduction and holds its place in the series as a real Classic.

The Duntech Statesman is a three driver, two way design incorporating extremely high quality drive units. These unique drivers employ composite fibre cone technology. Solid copper phase plug and heavy copper rings are used throughout the magnet assembly. These features correct and account for non-linear distortion and increase the power handling of the driver. Gold plated connections and a special high purity magnesium chassis are also incorporated to make the Statesman a loudspeaker of especially low distortion and uncanny realism.

The high resolution aluminium dome tweeter backed by a tuned chamber and treated with acoustic absorbent felt, is time collimated. The hand assembled crossover is a first order type which provides smooth and flat phase and amplitude response. Duntech Princess

The Princess features a five driver layout, symmetrically arranged on a vertical axis and time aligned.
The bass drivers feature similar advantages to the Sovereign drivers, and the cone material is based on a thermo plastic polymer, reinforced with magnesium oxide.

The mid-range drivers have a powerful, ventilated magnet system with patented symmetric drive and pole piece.

The baskets are diecast magnesium and feature an aluminium former and voice coil for low moving mass. The drivers feature hand coated, rubber surround and textile dome, with selective plastic coating for optimum damping of resonances.

The tweeter exhibits excellent phase linearity and wide dynamic range. It is soft domed with soft rolloff suspension and aperiodically damped, double chamber construction.

Hexacoil technology permits very high power handling and the ferrofluid core dissipates heat very efficiently.

Acoustic absorbing material is tailored to all front surfaces of the enclosure to minimise diffraction distortion.

The cabinet is custom wood with specially designed, "figure of 8" bracing used extensively. The Princess is available in a choice of hand finished Brazilian Rosewood or Brown Oak, with acoustically transparent black cloth.

The Princess and Marquis loudspeakers come with hardened steel spikes which may be used to minimise motion and increase stability.

The spikes are mounted in recessed metal threads and a locking nut allows height adjustment to compensate for uneven floor surfaces.

Duntech Sovereign

It was not called "the world's most accurate loudspeaker" for nothing

The Sovereign is the flagship of the Duntech range and acknowledged by experts as the finest loudspeaker in the world, certainly the most accurate.

The Sovereign uses a seven driver system with the drivers symmetrically arranged on a vertical axis and time aligned.

The woofers have rigid magnesium diecast baskets and use PHA cone material. A vented, long throw magnet system reduces air movement noise. These low distortion drivers incorporate hexacoil technology for very high power handling and display excellent linear dynamic response.

The bass drivers feature a large diameter aluminium voice coil and former, a wide dispersion pattern, excellent phase characteristics and fast transient response. The soft domed, mid-range drivers are aperiodically damped and the use of ferrofluid dissipates heat very efficiently. The double chamber tweeter exhibits extremely linear response with low distortion and wide dispersion. The high precision, vented pole plate and pole piece is constructed around a special high-flux ferrite magnet and the textile diaphragm is hand coated.

The crossover is a highly complex, first order type with high power handling. The fibreglass printed circuit board is mounted in it's own separate cavity. Polypropylene capacitors are used for their stability, high voltage, low loss and low inductance, together with aircore inductors. Resistors are high powered ceramic type.

Input terminals are gold plated on nickel and are an exclusive Duntech Audio design.

The terminals are spaced for easy access and accept a banana, spade or wire connection.

The cabinet is made of custom wood laminated in thickness up to 33mm (1.3"). It is heavily braced with hardwood to reduce resonances and vibration to inaudible levels.

An optimized, sealed enclosure is used to provide accurate reproduction in preference to a vented enclosure which very often produces a woolly or ill-defined sound.

The cabinet is step baffled to provide time alignment. Selected grades and sizes of foam are strategically positioned internally to optimize driver performance.

Each driver is mounted on gaskets in a separate enclosure. Drivers are fixed with hardened steel machine screws in metal threads.

Sound absorbing, organic felt is used extensively to minimize diffraction distortion and is hand tailored to the shape of the cabinet front.

The Sovereign is available in a choice of hand finished, high quality, wood veneers. Customized finished are also available upon request. The grill frame is an integral part of the loudspeaker design and is covered in acoustically transparent black cloth.

A professor could not tell them apart !

"The world's most accurate loudspeaker" a magazine reviewer claimed.

So, a well-known television programme decided to put us to the test.

A professor of musicology sat before a performer and a pair of Sovereigns.

So real was their sound reproduction, the professor couldn't tell where the live performance left off and the recording began.

It was, perhaps, the toughest test any loudspeaker has faced and a very credible indication of the sound quality you can expect from the entire Duntech range.

Yet our engineers continue to push the edge of technology in our quest for perfect sound reproduction.

Visit an authorised Duntech retailer soon and judge our success for yourself.

Review of the Sovereign in Hi-Fi Review (Hong Kong) - 1987

"The Sovereign is the first loudspeaker we have measured and heard which is truly faultless. It is a loudspeaker without peer."

Von Hans Gunther Beer reviews the Sovereign in Audio - August 1987

"The Super Loudspeaker that has shocked the competition. It deserves a top position in our limited Reference-Class and, with an overall rating of 93, beating our previous reference loudspeaker, the BM 40, by a full point. With its near perfect impulse response, it is an ideal loudspeaker for the serious audiophile who wants and can afford the best."

Bert Whyte reviews the Sovereign in Audio (USA) - November 1986

"It is obvious that this is a most extraordinary loudspeaker that deserves recognition as a landmark design...if you can afford them, I believe you are incontestably getting the best."

Review on the Sovereign in Electronics Australia - January 93

"What most audiophiles regard as the best loudspeaker system in the world; the almost legendary Duntech Sovereign.

"I have not heard any loudspeaker system which could out-perform the Sovereigns in terms of spatial localisation..this is as close as you will get to a live recording at home.

"Without hearing them, you will never appreciate just how outstanding these speakers are...sounds that are about as true-to-life as you could hope or want to achieve in a residential situation."

Harry Pearson reviews the Sovereign in The Absolute Sound - September/October 1991

"What it does have, aside from an unusually life-like ability to deploy an orchestra across the expanse of your living room, is the most uncanny ability to suggest...the sound of real bass instruments playing individually or en masse and doing so with the kind of authority you will find chilling..."

Duntech Prince

Making Waves - Prince
The Prince embodies many Duntech firsts...

  • Hand coated Kevlar drivers
  • Reverberant field control
  • Extremely high quality crossover
  • High frequency acoustic filter
  • In room response to infra-sonic frequencies
  • Tri-wiring via gold plated bars

The Prince features a five driver layout, symmetrically arranged on a vertical axis and time aligned.
The bass drivers are formed from a cast and hand coated Kevlar cone material. The voice coil is a long throw design producing the lowest levels of distortion and compression.
The midrange drivers are also based on a hand coated Kevlar cone which perfectly matches the bass drivers. The dust cap on this driver incorporates a specially matched diaphragm to ensure smooth high frequency performance for above the crossover point.
A symmetrically lathed and vented pole piece is used for both drivers. The basket material is magnesium.
The tweeter is based on a diaphragm with a special profile to optimise the high frequency response. A cone shaped pole piece is used to minimise cavity resonances and an additional rear chamber further improves the damping of the tweeter. In front of the tweeter Duntech has mounted a unique acoustic resonance filter to provide unprecedented clarity at high frequencies.
At the rear of the speaker a specially controlled tweeter provides reverberant energy in the room to exactly mimic the sound field in a real concert hall.
The lower woofer is loaded by a transmission line to provide extremely low frequency output in the listening room.
The front of the enclosure is treated with die cut felt of precise properties to suppress the box diffraction effects.
The cabinet is made of 25mm thick MDF with extensive bracing throughout. Each driver is accorded its own enclosure.
The crossover is a first for Duntech, employing a non-ferrous substrate. The inductors are wound from seven separate strands of wire laid in a computer driven orthocyclic winding. The capacitors are actually constructed from multiple capacitors in each package to provide very fast rise times and low loss factors.
The speaker is provided with six sets of terminals for tri- wiring, bi-wiring or normal operation.
The Prince is available in a choice of Queensland Walnut, Rosewood or Piano Black.
