Sounds like the DEQX PRe-8 is running out of clock cycles or the Linux bloatware is stealing away valuable resources. That will learn-ya ;)

QuoteAfter some waiting I have been starting to use my Pre-8, very intensive last two weeks.

Some Trouble:
-A alot of "snapping" / crackling sounds, dont know the english word. Sometimes its not even possible to listen and sometimes if I start on low volume and keep it like that there are no such sounds for hours.
If I then play loud for a while the very irritating sounds starts and they dont go away even on low volume.
Anyone alse experience the same?

-Para-eq lives it own life, it often changes the q value. I havnt really figured out when and why yet.

I hope it goes well for Deqx so we get a finished product, this Beta stege is a little painful in many ways.

This is for the DEQX shills who said that only 65k taps per channel is the only acceptable solution! I hatched up a simple test of 8 FIR filters in Audio Weaver each with 65k taps running concurrently with a sample rate of 48kHz !! Note the resource usage in the server window, hovering at around 15% ! Had no trouble running Jriver on the same PC whilst processing the eight FIR filters concurrently without any Snap-Crackle-or-Pop !! All lucky Ultimate Preamplifier owners have this capability ;)

The new DEQX is the same as the HAWK TUAH meme coin. What a cheap arse company DEQX is spending all that money developing what is essentially a BOX with some new, literally untested hardware in it, releasing it as a BETA PRODUCT at half price and getting your customers to do all the testing and take all the risk.

NOW WE EMPLOY A TEAM OF PEOLE TO FIX WHAT IS ESSENTIALLY A PRODUCT FULL OF FAULTS. One would hope that this is the end of this s**te company who have played on their Fairlight laurels since 19?? whatever. The guy who reached out for help on the NO-BENCH-TEST-PLUG-FEST forum for help after they don't answer the phone or email, DEQX then post their new staff list and completely ignore this guys plea for help, I bet you he feels real comforted by the support he has. Talk about a s**t response.

Then there are the shills for it on Rushtons NO-BENCH-TEST-PLUG-FEST extolling its virtues like that Wrongy moron who says in one breath its no better than MiniDSP and then says its a good product and you should buy it in the next. He's like the KIM-JONG-UN of the NO-BENCH-TEST-PLUG-FEST forum. Then he slams Danville for using AudioWeaver as being too hard to use. If you don't understand how AudioWeaver works then you have no right to be messing with speaker and crossover design in the first place and you should keep your blow fly trap shut. Implementing an AudioWeaver design is fairly straightforward provided you understand speaker design and the get the basics right in the first instance. Old Wrongy boy appears to not have the brains to be able to do that as he continually hangs s**t on AudioWeaver as being a developers tool. He's not as smart as he thinks he is if he cannot work out a drag and drop software program. AudioWeaver is not the problem here, it's people like Wrongy boy who are the problem. A poor tradesman always blames his tools. There are people out there who know how to use it and can use it very well, so instead of hanging s**t on a product that is mature, finished and works and shilling for a product that's a box of crap full of faults that sounds like a packet of rice bubbles with 2 litres of milk tipped in it, maybe you should just shut your pie hole and stick to Mini DSP as that's all you seem to be capable of using. Have you even used Danville Wrongy Boy? NO I would say you haven't so you should just shut the f**k up. If you cannot use a product because you are not smart enough then keep your opinion in your pie hole, DON'T BLAME THE PRODUCT AND DON"T THINK FOR ONE MINUTE EVERYONE IS AS STUPID AS YOU.

Tough luck for the guy who bought one and now has the worlds most clear sound of the snap-crackle-pop of a fresh bowl of rice bubbles. You poor bastard.

Could you imagine if the likes of Cambridge Audio  or CHORD or any reputable audio manufacturer for that matter  did that, launched a BETA PRODUCT on the public and then started leaving them high and dry?

One wonders how much these buffoons poured into the development of the new case because they certainly didn't spend up on their R & D on the s**t inside the new box. Running UNIX on a phone chip? They should sack the guy who came up with that idea. Oh wait they did.

If this guy is getting rice bubble music after a couple of hours how long and thoroughly did DEQX test this in the factory before they shoved it out the back door. Obviously not very long and thorough as the poor bastard who essentially has an unusable system after a couple of hours found out. The unit should come with a warning that HIGH VOLUME LEVELS ARE NOT SUITABLE THIS PRODUCT.

Having designed and built a 4 way active system from the ground up using unique damping materials and internal box construction that no other manufacturer is using, designing a 4 way crossover with AudioWeaver took 10 minutes. Perfectly flat response, perfectly time aligned.

Its typical Wrongy misrepresenting a product by pretending he's an engineer but In reality he's just another dick. If he reckons he knows so much he should be able to eat AudioWeaver for breakfast. Al Clarkes post put him in his place. Perhaps he should build his own 8 way crossover.
Nothing to see here. Move along

Reminds me of a Kick-Starter or Indiegogo campaign. How many of those ended in failure where the punters lost their money ? The ASR thread on DEQX's unfinished product should have been relegated to the Desperate Dealers forum on ASR. Ironically it's hypocritical how stereonet disables links to ASR but must have welcomed this thread with open arms. I don't think Amir got rewarded a brand new house on a 1 acre block from it ;)

And like you said the thread extolling the virtues of a new DSP product using Audioweaver that was canvassed on stereonet not so long ago was derailed almost immediately by the same DEQX shill as being too convoluted to use :( Go figure ! Of course, Minidsp like the Wilsenton audio thread on stereonet gets free plugs all day long whilst the local manufacturers have to pay through the nose :( With stereonet it all depends on who you are and whether or not you are part of their cabal or of financial benefit to the owner. Merit has nothing to do with it :(

For the DSD aficionados, I have Jriver outputting a DSD-256 bitstream (11.289MHz) to the Preamp which is then processing it through 8 FIR filters each with 64k (65536) taps @48kHz sampling rate and the PC is not even breaking a sweat ;)
